With the UK currently experiencing a cold snap and energy bills becoming increasingly expensive, Miller Homes Southern advises people looking to buy to opt for a new-build.
This is mainly because 50 per cent of a home’s heat is lost through the walls or the loft but houses which have been built more recently are done so with this in mind.

Ann Crick, sales director for Miller Homes Southern, said: “The winter months naturally increase energy consumption in turn increasing our bills.
“Thermal efficiency is a hot topic at the moment with recent energy price increases, so it’s even more important that we are more conscious of our energy consumption therefore extra insulation and the elimination of draughts all helps.”
She added that buyers of newly built homes can have “peace of mind” that these elements and a fully serviced heating system are taken care of from the start.
Other ways to stay warm in your home this winter while reducing energy bills include checking your heating system, eliminating draughts, switching energy suppliers, submitting regular meter readings and keeping up with bills.
