Ian Webb, group marketing director for David Wilson Homes says of their recent survey, 26 per cent of respondents said that the bathroom was their dedicated quiet space where they could completely relax and switch off. He believes that the constant wave of new technology will see the demand for a place to get away from it all soar, sparking the increase in an altogether different type of escape from the daily grind.

Webb continues: Taking this further, Bill Gates vision is to give us connected experiences 24-hours a day with companies such as Microsoft developing speech controlled computer servers to control all the technology in the house from heating, lighting and entertainment, to washing machines.
