However, British farmers arent the only ones fuelling the domestic market, as rising numbers of farmers from overseas particularly Denmark and Ireland are seeking to purchase UK land due to the high prices in their own countries.
By the end of 2006, farmland sales had reached the highest recorded levels during the past four years, while activity levels were 50 per cent higher than seen in 2004. In addition, the weighted average price of farmland rose from £7,219 to £8,164 per hectare.
