Base rate kept on hold

The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee has voted to keep the base rate at 0.5 per cent.

The asset purchase scheme also remains unchanged at £200 billion.

There has been no change in the base rate since March 2009 – it has now remained at its lowest ever level for over two years.
