In just three months since its launch, the equity loan aspect of the government’s Help-to-Buy scheme has attracted seven thousand applications.
More than 1,000 transactions of new-build homes have been processed under the scheme since its launch on April 1st, according to the Department of Communities and Local Government, while 6,000 other potential homeowners have reserved properties through Help-to-Buy.
Prisk said: “With almost 7,000 reservations in three months, it’s crystal clear that the Help to Buy equity loan has captured the public’s imagination and is getting Britain building again, which will help achieve a long-term, stable housing market.
“So any credit-worthy buyer, whether a first-time buyer or someone looking to move up the property ladder, should contact their local Help to Buy agent and see if they could benefit from the scheme.”
The second element of Help-to-Buy is a mortgage guarantee programme and will be introduced next January.
