Turning up the heat: Built-in BBQ the garden feature Brits dream of most

Summer is finally here and it’s safe to say anyone with their own garden will be soaking up the sun at every chance they get.

And with the popularity of alfresco dining booming, it’s no surprise more Brits wish they could cook outside too.

A new survey conducted on behalf of OceanFinance.co.uk has revealed a built-in barbecue is the garden fixture people most dream of owning.

Of the 2000 people polled, 86 per cent had access to a garden, and 60 per cent owned a shed, whether they used it for gardening, DIY or arts and crafts.

But while the shed may be useful it’s not high on the wish-list for most Brits – only 16 per cent of respondents hoped to own one.

Instead a built-in barbecue is the feature people would most like to own, at 27 per cent of respondents.

The addition of a summerhouse or garden room is also a popular choice with a quarter (26 per cent) of respondents, while nearly a quarter (22 per cent) wanted a hot tub.
