A couple who enjoy jumping out of planes have hopped onto the property ladder using Help to Buy, touching down in a new home in Birmingham.
James Lee, 26, and Meghan Carey, 22, who met while skydiving in California, moved into their three bedroom Padstow home at the Kings Rise development in Kings Norton in May and have been settling in ever since.
“Meghan recently got a new job,” explains James, a software developer from Gloucestershire, “and Kings Rise was ideal for both our commutes, as well as being close to family. It was the right place for us at the right time.”
Meghan, a recruitment consultant from Burton on Trent, agrees, “We’re pretty close to the M42 here, so we can be on the motorway on our way to work, family, or to Nottingham where we skydive together, in a matter of minutes.”
The couple used the popular Help to Buy scheme after being encouraged to do so by an independent financial adviser.
Buyers now only need a fraction of the deposit they used to thanks to the scheme – all you need is a five per cent deposit, and combined with a Government funded equity loan of 20 per cent, you only need a mortgage of 75 per cent.
“The sales staff and Site Manager here at Kings Rise have all been really friendly and helpful throughout the move and while we’ve been settling in,” continued Meghan, “and we love our new house, especially our magnetic wall in the kitchen.”
Kings Rise is a new development of Barratt Homes. Comprising of 127 new homes, it is situated on the south western edge of Birmingham in the historic village of Kings Norton. With superb transport links to the M42 and M5, plus local schools and other amenities nearby, Kings Rise offers a great place for young professionals and families to call their home.
