A vendor was able to sell his two-bedroom flat in Hackney, East London, for more money than he was asking thanks a virtual open house.
Online estate agent, SellMyHome.co.uk, and technology company Virtual Walkthrough teamed up to deliver the open house on Facebook. This helped Mike Freeman achieve £10,000 more than the asking price for his property.
The flat was listed for sale at £550,000 but fetched £560,000 thanks to the use of the innovative technology.
The sale resulted in overall savings of over £50,000 for the vendor, as an almost identical property in the same block sold for £518,000, in May, through traditional estate agents. When taking into account a 2 per cent commission that’s a saving of £51,360.
The virtual open house created 145 online viewings during the three hour period it was live on Facebook, with shares creating a reach of 29,349.
Mike Freeman said: “We are absolutely delighted we have completed. We have a young family so that extra money makes a real difference! We couldn’t have achieved such a great price without the assistance of SellMyHome.co.uk and their use of the Virtual Walkthrough’s technology. It opened us up to a wider audience and made it easier for people to view our property.”
Following the success of that first open house, SellMyHome.co.uk have decided to run virtual property viewings on their Facebook page every Wednesday.
