Yorkshire Building Society is the first to offer customers financial advice at home via video conferencing.

spending, monthly budget, young couple, piggy bank, clock, papers, tableThe lender is rolling out a new service, the first from a major building society, that will enable customers to consult an expert about investments from the comfort of their own home. It also enables advisers to share documents, via any tablet, laptop or desk-top computer.

Financial advisers will be available between 9 am and 7 pm Monday to Friday.

Simon Broadley, head of investments at Yorkshire Building Society, commented:

“We are very proud that, along with our advice provider Legal & General, we are one of the first UK financial services institutions to offer this comprehensive service, helping our customers fit gaining high-quality financial advice into their every-day lives.

“We know that many of our customers have very busy lives and it can be difficult to make time for investment advice due to their existing commitments. Technology has the power to instantly connect customers with a fully-qualified financial adviser – we want to ensure that making your money work for you is as easy as making a video call on a tablet.

“That’s why we’ve launched this innovative service, which utilises the latest in secure video conferencing technology to allow customers to access fully-qualified experts in the UK from the comfort of their own homes at a time which suits them. The technology is so sophisticated we can advise, share documents on the screen and agree investment plans all on the same call.”

Jon Roderick, business director of Legal & General Financial Solutions Direct (LGFSD), said:

“We are always looking to enhance the experience we can provide to customers and we proud that, working together with Yorkshire Building Society, remote advice will give us the opportunity to provide even more  customers with the financial advice they need in the comfort of their own home at a time that suits them.”
