Pickfords has launched a new app which aims to help customers save time when they move home.
The app can be downloaded to a smartphone or tablet and allows customers to speak face-to-face with their move consultant instead of a home visit.
They can then video their home and the goods they need to move while the move consultant watches remotely and assesses their requirements.
The video is recorded and stored on a secure cloud based server and provides a record of the goods to be moved. Surveys can be booked at a time that is convenient.
Traditionally, home movers need to take a day off to arrange for removals companies to come and view the property prior to issuing a quotation.
Consumer director Mark Taylor said: “We find that customers of all ages are using the video survey as an alternative to a home visit. The benefits to our customers are that they can book a time for their survey during the day or in the evening, the time taken to conduct a survey is shorter, and we can provide a quotation much quicker.”
