Santander is rolling out a new service which allows people to apply for mortgages by video link in sixty-three of its branches across the UK.
The new service will enable customers to apply for a mortgage using a video link from the branch, which connects them remotely to a UK-based mortgage adviser.
Customers can go online, call, or visit a branch to go through the initial stages of their mortgage application, providing documentation where required.
Santander said that mortgage advisers will continue to be available in branch.
It joins the growing list of banks and building societies which offer customers the opportunity to take out a mortgage via video, including Lloyds, Halifax, Yorkshire Building Society and Nationwide.
Miguel Sard, managing director of mortgages at Santander said: “For most people, a mortgage is one of the biggest financial commitments they will make in their lifetime. We know that customers value speaking to a mortgage adviser who will explain what options are available to them and recommend a product to meet their individual needs.
“We are excited to offer customers this new mortgage video service, which works well alongside our existing offering.”
