In the first article we meet Hatice Karadal (pictured), manager of the Alexander Hall protection team, who begins the series by introducing herself and her team and explaining how they add value for mortgage clients.
I am the manager of the Alexander Hall protection team working alongside Chelsea Warren and Sam Salim. As a team we provide protection advice on life insurance, critical illness cover and income protection. Don’t worry we will be explaining these in more detail, later in the series. We are passionate about the work we do, ensuring Alexander Hall mortgage clients receive a mortgage which isn’t just affordable but sustainable in the event of unfortunate circumstances.
Clear explanation
We appreciate that talking about protection is not typically what mortgage clients expect to be doing as part of the process. In fact, quite often, mortgage clients have little or no understanding of what is involved. With this in mind my team and I are careful to give everyone the opportunity to learn more about the topic and then explain the details in a way which is simple and clear. This takes a lot of weight off our clients’ minds, especially as they already have a lot of new information to contend with.
The mortgage advisers discuss the importance of protection throughout the process, from the first meeting through to completion. We prefer to speak to clients early in the process, as this gives us both more time to get the cover the clients require in place, prior to exchange of contracts.

The satisfaction of the job comes simply from helping people. The team and I often receive calls from past clients thanking us for the cover previously put in place, which has since helped them financially through a difficult period of their lives.
