If you are keen to sell your house by Christmas then don’t wait for Brexit. Experts are advising you need to have your house on the market by 21 October to guarantee a pre-festive sale.
According to data from estateagent4me, over the past four years homes listed in October have taken an average of 61 days to sell.
As such, this means homeowners must have their house listed well before the Brexit deadline of 31 October if they want to maximise their chances of getting a sale.
Paula Higgins, chief executive of HomeOwners Alliance, which runs estateagentforme, said: “If you have been waiting for certainty over Brexit before putting your home on the market to sell this year – unfortunately, time has run out.
“Deadline day for advertising your home if you want to sell before Christmas is 21 October. So it’s time to get a move on.”
Seasonal selling
Data from the website also revealed January was the best time to market a property as the New Year was generally the time when sales tended to happen most speedily.
Those listing in late autumn, in comparison, proved slower to shift. Indeed, on average since 2015 properties in the UK have stayed on the market for 51 to 70 days.

However, for anyone keen to get their house snapped up before the festive celebrations begin in earnest, estateagent4me is offering advice on how to proceed.
