According to Derek Watkins, managing director of cyprus4investors and cyprus4living, unlike countries such as Bulgaira, Cyprus is naturally more likely to attract tourists and retirees.
He added that the country’s “Englishness” has also made it very attractive to investors and holidaymakers.
His words come as Monarch became the first major low-cost airline to fly between Cyprus and the UK. The move is expected to bring thousands more Brits to the country hoping to rent out holiday homes.
Mr Watkins said: “Cyprus has 340 days of sunshine a year. They drive on the left-hand side of the road, they have the English banking system, they have the English legal system and the English electrical system – you can put your plug straight in the wall.
“For English people it makes it very easy to live there. It is a natural market.”
