According to the latest research, Leeds is the cheapest place to rent both studio and luxury apartments whilst London is unsurprisingly the most expensive costing a huge 81 per cent more than Leeds.

After London, Birmingham is the most expensive UK city for tenants, although studio flats are marginally more expensive further north in Liverpool and Manchester.
Lee Grandin, managing director of Landlord Mortgages and LettingAgent.com said: This research really shows the divide between the cost of renting in the capital and the rest of the country. While admittedly salaries are higher in London than other regions, they are not over 50 per cent higher, so people who choose to live there need to spend a far greater proportion of their salary on rent.
Most people do not have a hope of living in a city centre luxury apartment in London (£2,410pcm) but Leeds provides a much more affordable option (£694pcm). Consumers who are looking for this type of lifestyle should definitely consider the options other major UK cities offer.
