The Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) has today launched its ‘rising stars’ of the mortgage industry challenge for 2015, looking for the best ideas to help young borrowers.
Entrants of this year’s challenge are being asked to address the question “If lenders want to help my generation, they should…”
Those who make the best submissions will get the chance to present them to an audience of senior mortgage industry professionals at the CML annual conference on 10 November.
But although the challenge is for ideas to help younger borrowers, there is no age limit for entrants. Nor is entry restricted to those from the lending industry. The CML has said it will accept entries from people working alongside lenders, or from commentators, journalists and others outside the industry. More details of the challenge can be found here.
Entrants can submit up to three proposals by the deadline of 4 September. The CML will then carefully assess them before inviting the best to present their proposals to the annual conference in November. There, they will be voted on by a CML judging panel and the wider conference audience.
Among the judges will be last year’s ‘rising star’ winner, Michael Rhodes, of Leeds Building Society. Michael impressed the judges with his proposal for a ‘Mortgage Builder’ scheme, an incentivised long-term savings plan to overcome the problem of raising a deposit for first-time buyers.
If you would like to participate in the ‘rising stars’ challenge, please submit your entries by 4 September. More details can be found on the CML website.
