The number of loans taken out by N&P customers on terraced homes increased by nearly 2 per cent during 2005. This compares to a reduction of nearly 2.25 per cent on detached properties. However, detached remains the most popular choice for N&P homebuyers, followed by semi-detached properties, with terraced homes ranked third.
Paul Rippon, N&PÂ’s head of banking and mortgage operations, said: “Terraced properties continued to make a comeback in 2005. The number of loans on this type of property, the “Coronation Street”-type terraced house, increased by nearly 2 per cent in 2004 and again in 2005. This type of property tends to keep its attraction because they remain relatively affordable. The small terraced house is good value for money.”
