Frustrated with the amount of to-ing and fro-ing they have had to endure whilst the Government demoted certain compulsory parts of the packs down to optional status and dallied over the date they would go live, homeowners have now revealed they are ready and willing to play the system.

Three quarters of Brits have admitted that they would be tempted to market their four-bed property as comprising three bedrooms and a study to sidestep the cost of a HIP. However this decision could prove to come back and bite them when it comes to getting a valuation as doing away with the fourth bedroom could knock as much as £121,000 off the price of their property, as well as putting off a number of potential buyers.
This definitely shows the how deeply the public feel about the introduction of HIPs with most believing that the current buying and selling process works fine as it is. Three in four also added that they felt the absence of a home survey in the standard Home Information Pack meant that the overall costs of selling a home would go up as this would have to be done separately, and that they would be inclined to mistrust the contents of the pack due to the fact that they were provided by the seller and could therefore skim over potential drawbacks.
