Monmouthshire Building Society has passed the milestone of one billion pounds in assets and will celebrate by giving back to the local community through various funding projects.
The Welsh society says this is a highly significant landmark within its history, and is the culmination of 145 years of effort, dedication and achievement for all the society’s staff, both past and present.
Community Acorn Fund
For the first stage of the celebrations, the society has launched the ‘Community Acorn Fund’ to give back to community groups and projects throughout the local geographical area. A £25,000 funding pool has been allocated across the society’s branch and agency network, and local community groups are invited to apply for funding.
The deadline for applications is 30 September 2014, and more information is available at monbs.com/acornfund.
Lasting Legacies
The second stage of the celebrations is the ‘Lasting Legacies’ project which covers areas across a wide spectrum of society including health, children, the environment, homelessness and sport.
The society is working in close collaboration with a number of local and national bodies to fund projects of great, lasting need. Details of the specific projects will be announced over the coming months.
