NatWest is planning the launch of a series of mobile banking apps focused on life events such as moving home, going to university or having a baby.
The bank is currently beta-testing three of the new apps at two of its branches in East London, asking customers for feedback, which has been positive so far. NatWest wants to know around which life events people need more help with their finances. It also seeks to improve the products before they hit the market and possibly consider the launch of additional new apps.
Two of the apps currently in testing are called HouseMove and ManageMoney and revolve around day-to-day personal finance issues.
The third app, called Spendorama, consists of a series of games focused on improving the clients spending habits. For example, users are being challenged to spend nothing for a day.
“We want to give people the tools to help them plan their lives and the events they will encounter, “Phil Northey, branch and private banking managing director for London and the South East at NatWest, commented.
“Traditionally what we might have done in the past is develop an app, release it and then see what happens next. But we knew that with this, if we were going to get it right, we needed to work with our customers and get their feedback,” he added.
