Their normal product fee of £900 has been reduced to just £400, saving homebuyers a full £500 off the cost of their new mortgage arrangement.
Product fees are an upfront price tag attached to a particular mortgage product and are usually used by lenders as part of the overall pricing of the mortgage deal. For example, Nationwide’s most competitive rates usually carry a £900 product fee. Many providers charge product fees of £1000 or more.
Therefore, as the general cost of buying a property and moving continues to rise, a large upfront fee saving is something most people are likely to view as a key benefit when moving home or when taking their first step on to the property ladder.
