Property law firm WYM Legal has launched a new app which aims to drag the conveyancing process slap-bang into the 21st century.
The When You Move app will enable homebuyers and sellers to track in real-time every stage of their property transaction – banishing paper filing and manual update chasing.
It is designed to modernise the connectivity between brokers, estate agents, conveyancers and buyers, speeding up the conveyancing process.
The desktop and app-based solution is able to facilitate in excess of 1,000 cases, offering real-time updates, document upload and verification functionality, plus real-time case-tracking.
The free app is available to download on both Apple and Android phones.
Simon Bath, CEO of When You Move, said: “The app brings brokers, clients and conveyancers closer together and keeps them informed throughout the whole process.
“It will speed things up as everyone will know where they are in the transaction.
“For brokers it brings all of their conveyancing referral business under one banner so they can then manage the process that much better.”
Ian Darby, executive chairman of mortgage broker John Charcol, said: “The market is propelled by a body of quality, progressive partners, therefore an infrastructure to enhance connectivity and fluidity is great. I’m looking forward to not only seeing the platform’s progression but the impact the technology will bear on the efficiency in overall communication and speed of the industry.”
When You Move commissioned an independent survey of 2,000 UK adults to reveal how the overly stressful home-buying experience is damaging the property market.
It found that a quarter (24%) of UK homeowners have wanted to sell their home but decided not to as the process is deemed too long and stressful. It also revealed that 37% of all people that have bought a property in the UK since 2007 have experienced a deal fall through as a result of long delays and chain complications.
Most worryingly, in the last decade four million people across the UK have been left homeless because of delays in the property-buying process.
Peter Goodman, founder and chairman of When You Move, said: “With more than 1.2 million property transactions taking place every year, there is a significant need to modernise the process for all involved.
“By automating the communication process, businesses will be able to provide a better service and, with our consumer app, the end-client will also benefit from these same real-time updates.”
