Having a tropical island all to yourself for a few days seems like a dream holiday and turns out it is not just a dream.
The WhereInRio lettings agency, which specialises in luxury holidays in Brazil, is offering holidaymakers the chance to rent an entire island, the Illha de Maná.
As far as exotic holidays opportunities go, there is hardly another more exotic than this one.
The price per night is high, starting from 3,500 euro, but there is plenty of room which means you can share the cost and have a Robinson Crusoe-type of adventure with your friends.
A 6 hectare piece of land in the shape of a tortoise’s shell, the island is located off the Costa Verde, between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, just beside the colonial era town of Paraty.
Boasting a 30-meter long stretch of private beach Illha de Maná hosts several buildings. There are four bedrooms and five bathrooms, enough to accommodate a party of eight guests.
The island has its own supplies of drinking water and electricity is generated by solar panels. There is also a back-up generator.
It is a 15-minute boat ride away from the historic town of Paraty and a three-hour car drive away from Rio. The island can be reached by air as well, as it has its own private heliport. A 40-minute flight will take you to Rio.
