Getmedebtfree.com is a comprehensive advice tool which asks users three simple questions and then uses an algorithm to generate a fully-tailored response with advice based on where they live and the nature of the debt.
It is the brainchild of national law firm, Aberdein Considine, which has launched a free debt advice service as part of an ongoing programme of support for consumers.
It already works with a number of UK lenders on debt recovery and has developed systems to support borrowers with managing debt and for those in financial difficulty.
This latest development will help people with all types of debt issues – including mortgages – regardless of where they live or who has been asked to manage their debt.
Myra Scott, partner and head of the lender services practice group at Aberdein Considine, said: “Financial difficulty can be a source of significant stress for individuals and their families and it is vital that both lenders, and those working with borrowers, meet the highest standards of service and provide the necessary support at all times.
“It’s not in anyone’s interest for borrowers to be experiencing difficulty in managing debt and the new site provides an additional tool to help those who may either simply want more guidance on financial issues, or those who are already going through a recovery process.”
Aberdein Considine promised no personal data would be captured in any part of the process, which aimed to inform people on how to deal with any debt difficulties.
The firm has been focussing recently on financial education in a bid to help young people understand the risks of accumulating unmanageable debt. This includes visiting schools to offer ‘Maths into Finance’ sessions.
