Londoners are most confident that now is a good time to sell, according to the the latest quarterly Halifax Housing Market Confidence Tracker.
Almost two-thirds (64 per cent) of people in the capital assessed the next 12 months as a good period for home sales, the research showed.
This compares to 48 per cent in Scotland, 47 per cnt in North England and 43 per cent in the Midlands.
On the flip side, while more upbeat about sales, Londoners are less confident than people elsewhere in the UK that the next 12 months would be a good time to buy. Just 40 per cent of them said so, compared to 77 per cent in Scotland and 58 per cent in North England.
Nationwide, consumer sentiment about buying and selling properties has cooled in the third quarter of 2015, Halifax said.
The proportion of Britons who think it will be a good time to buy in 12 months’ time has declined to 53 per cent in the third quarter from 56 per cent in the second. The sentiment for selling has eased to 52 per cent in Q3 from 59 per cent in Q2.
